About Me

Shing I Chen | The Lens Is My Language for Speaking With the World

She is a fashion photographer who has lived in New York for more than twenty years; through her lens, she writes the posture and soul of women.

Shing I Chen excels at capturing emotion through light and shadow, shaping visual narratives with the vocabulary of fashion. Since photographing Dior’s Discover the Art of Dressing & Undressing campaign in 2009, her work has generated wide discussion in the industry. She has gone on to shoot covers for international fashion media such as VOGUE, ELLE, BAZAAR, and Next Magazine, and has photographed numerous celebrities including Hannah Quinlivan, Vanness Wu, Elva Hsiao, Aimee Sun, Lin Mu-chieh, and Tingting Hu, earning her the reputation of a “socialite photographer.”

Her images carry a quiet strength-elegant yet powerful-interpreting the many facets of the female perspective. Because of this, she has been invited as the collaborating photographer for numerous luxury brand campaigns and visual identity projects. Her clients include SK-II, Dior, Prada, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Loro Piana, Kiehl’s, Suhuloo, and others. She believes that fashion is not merely styling-it is the extension of attitude and the outline of the soul.
Her artistic sensitivity has also brought her into major photography and fashion exhibitions, including joint shows with iconic international photographers such as Annie Leibovitz x Macallan and Peter Lindbergh x IWC. Her work has been featured in events such as the Vogue Art Book bestselling exhibition, the Vogue Giorgio Armani Exhibition, Vogue x Taishin Bank x Eslite Art Book Fair, Louis Vuitton x ELLE Photography Exhibition, and the 101 Jean Paul Gaultier Retrospective.

Shing I embodies both the calm gaze of a photographer and the intuitive sensitivity of an artist. Through her images, she explores the style of the times, the beauty of women, and the infinite
possibilities of self-imagination.
Now, let us walk with her lens into a visual journey where fashion and emotion intertwine.
